MEET PATRICK
Father, Small Businessperson, Community Leader, Army Veteran
Patrick and his wife, Emily, have three kids that they want to see have the same opportunities they had growing up in Nebraska. He currently serves as CEO of First Star Recycling, a local business that provides recycling services throughout the entire state of Nebraska. He previously worked raising money for schools, churches, and nonprofits in Omaha. Patrick is an officer in the Army Reserve and served as a director for the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District Board where he helped cut the property tax rate three times while still prioritizing needed projects like Flanagan Lake and Keystone bike trails .
He is running for Nebraska Legislature in District 6 to use his experience to deliver a lower cost-of-living and stronger communities for working families. Patrick is concerned with the hyper-partisanship and hypocrisy in politics today and wants to get our government back to solving the problems facing our state - like persistently high taxes, slowing economic growth, and lack of opportunities for all. He is committed to tackling these problems with new ideas and innovative solutions that work for working Nebraskans.

We are facing a workforce shortage in nearly every sector. Whether it's understaffed fire departments, overworked teachers, burnt-out nurses, or small businesses struggling to grow-we need better solutions for the “brain drain” facing our state. We can build a Nebraska where housing is affordable, our schools prepare students for the future, and our communities are dynamic so people choose to build their lives here. I’m running to make these investments a priority so that our communities can thrive.

Omaha ranks as one of the most expensive cities in the country for childcare with families paying thousands of dollars a month (I know this first-hand with three little ones!). This is unsustainable. We need more childcare options that working families can afford. I will work to explore solutions other states are using so that no parent is priced out of quality childcare for their kids.

Lowering Property Taxes
All Nebraskans are struggling with high property taxes, from our seniors to first-time home buyers. High property tax rates on top of rising valuations are a financial strain for many. The Legislature has recently voted to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, while at the same time discussing new taxes on goods and services for the rest of us. When I take on re-balancing our property tax system, it will be to lessen the burden on the middle-class so we can keep more of our hard-earned dollars to help us to get ahead.
Nebraska is home and always will be. I’m running with a mission: work to make it a leading state on quality of life and cost of living for every Nebraskan.
